Day 51
6 FEB 2012
Today I got up early. I took mother n law and dropped her off at (a secret location); then headed to Fort Payne to pick up the counter tops. I get to the marina to pick up the truck and it has ¾ of a tank of gas! GOOD! I didn’t have to stop for gas and also found a faster route to get there. Instead of 1 and ½ hours, it only took me an hour!
I get to Dixie Salvage and I have to wait over 30 minutes for them to load me up. The guys who were supposed to load me up apparently either forgot or went to lunch.
I get the countertops loaded and head to the house. I stop by and pick up lunch for me and hubby and we eat lunch together at the marina.
I get to the house and fiddle around for 2 hours waiting on hubby to get off work. Once he gets off work, he heads straight to the house. We are excited about the countertops. He puts them on the cabinets……… they don’t fit! Why did I expect ANYTHING to go right? Lol Of course my first reaction is to go into bitch mode. I babble on about how nothing is right in this house, blah, blah, blah. What does hubby do when I suddenly go from loving all we have created and worked so hard for to being an ungrateful, annoying, babbling bitch? He grabs me and hugs me ♥ Can’t really complain though. I mean we are on day 51 of a VERY stressful situation and I have only had 2 meltdowns. Not bad at all! Lol It was a lot of little things that lead up to it. The 2 guys that helped …… I’m sorry….. the 2 guys my hubby paid to help us have not only left tools and a mess behind but have also left a mark on my dining room wall with the floor sander (after we already painted it!), also left glue on the other dining room wall from where they glued the floor don in the kitchen, marked up my stairway wall while carrying their saw downstairs, left a line of pure nothingness between the tile and kitchen hardwood floor (a place for me to fill up with dirt when I sweep) *sarcasm and got glue all over my new tile in the living room! I mean all over it too! I could also add a couple of other things but I think that is enough. So when the countertops didn’t fit, I went into one!
I headed to the house and hubby stayed behind to finish the tile in the “man cave”. I cooked dinner and had it ready when he got home.
I am just ready to get my 2 babies back (my doggies) Buster Brown and psycho girl (names have been changed to protect the innocent). Lol And as wonderful as my mother n law is, I am ready to be in my own home. At the same time, I wish we didn’t have to work on the house EVERY DAY. I hate that hubby has to work so hard all day at the marina and then work on the house at night and the only alone time we get is when we are working at the house. I do love the house though, it is coming together better than I could have ever dreamt and it means so much to me that it is something we have created together; also that I could play a bigger part in it than just painting and cleaning. I have learned so much in this process. Not only laboring things but I have also had lessons in relationship and patients. Lol
Tomorrow is a new day. Hubby is taking the day off and we are going to have some alone time. FINALLY! BAZINGA! We will head to Fort Payne in the A.M. to take countertops back and then work on the house the rest of the day getting countertops in, ice maker line ran and hooked up and the sink installed. Some kind of alone time huh? If we get countertops cut tomorrow, I will make sure to take lot’s of photos! Till then, no photos of anything you haven’t already seen.
